What are the Badlands of South Dakota?An area of dry hills and sharp cliffs of crumbling rock with rich fossil beds.
Describe the Badlands during the age of the dinosaur.Lush, green plains with rivers. The climate was warm and humid.
How did the Rocky Monts. and the Black Hills change the climate of the Badlands?The mountains blocked some of the rain that fell on the region.
What two elements cause erosion?Water and wind.
How does erosion help uncover the pre-history of the Badlands?Water and wind wear away the rock, exposing fossils buried in it.
Why do few trees grow in the prairie?Not enough rain.
How does rainfall effect farming?Farmers in areas with little rain will have to grow crops that require less water. (ex: wheat)
