AsteroidA solid rocky or metallic object that orbits the sun
GalaxyA large grouping of stars
GeocentricModel of the solar system where the Earth is the center
HeliocentricModel of the solar system where the Sun is the center
MeteorSmall dust or rock particle that enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up. Also called a shooting star or falling star
LuminosityThe brightness of an object
UniverseEverything that exists.
RevolutionThe amount of time to go around the sun.
RotationSpinning on an axis
Celestial ObjectAnything outside Earth’s atmosphere
FocusA fixed point
AltitudeThe angular distance of a celestial object about the horizon
EccentricityOut of roundness
TidesRising and falling of the oceans caused by the moon’s gravitational attraction to Earth.
