| Assets Panel | A panel that contains nine categories of assets, such as images, used in a Web site. Clicking a category button will display a list of those assets. |

| Cropping | Removing part of an image, both visually (on the page) and physically (the file size) |
| Horizontal and Vertical Space | Black space above, below, and on the sides of an image that separates the image from the text or other elements on the page. |
| Alternate Text | Descriptive text that can be set to display in place of an image, while the image is downloading or when users place a mouse pointer over an image. |
| Screen Reader | A device used by visually impaired to convert written text on a computer monitor to spoken words. |
| Graphics | A picture or design element that adds visual interest to the page. |
| Graphic File | A graphic in digital format. |
| Images | A picture or photograph. |
| JPEG File | A file format that stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group file; used for images that appear on Web pages. Many photographs are saved in this file format. |
| GIF File | A Graphic Interchange Format file; a type of file format used for images placed on Web pages. |
| PNG File | A file format that stands for Protable Network Graphics file; used for Web page images and is capable of showing millions of colors, but is small in file size. |
| Background Images | An image used in place of a background color. |
| Tiled Image | A small graphic that repeats across and down a Web page, appearing as individual squares or rectangles. |
| Seamless Image | A tiled image that is blurred at the edges so that it appears to be all one image. |
| Clip Art Collections | A group of image files collected on CDs and sold with an index, or directory, of the files. |
| Index | The Dreamweaver Help feature that displays topics in alphabetical order; a directory of files on a CD containing image file. |
| Transparent Backgrounds | A background composed of transparent pixel, rather than pixels of a color, resulting in images that blend easily on a Web page background. |
| Royalty-Free | An image that you can purchase and use in your published Web pages without having to pay a royalty fee to the company that created it. |
| Public Domain | Images or text that are free to use without restrictions. |
