TypefaceIs the basic design of a character.
SerifsHave attributes or strokes at the tips of the letters.
San SerifsThere are no attributes at the tips of the letters
OrnamentalDesigned strictly to catch the eye
Script TypefaceAppear to have been written by hand with a calligraphy pen or brush.
MonospacedEach letter takes up the same amount of space regardless of the letter size.
ProportionalThe amount of space each character takes up is adjusted to the width of that character.
LeadingThe vertical spacing between lines of text.
KearningHorizontal spacing between pairs of letters.
TrackingHorizontal spacing between all of characters in a large block of text.
FontEach typeface had a complete set of metal characters for each size, weight, etc.
Font Familiesis the different sizes, weights and variations of a typefaces.
Font Stylerefers to the slant, weight and special effects applied to the text.
Typographyrefers to the style and arrangement or appearance of text.
