List and describe the four functions of governmentto keep order, police; settle conflicts, court and judicial system; protect the community, police, neighborhood watch; provide services that individuals can't provide independently, health care, education, and welfare
List and describe the five principles of American democracy. which is the most important?Establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote general warfare, secure the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our prosperity. I think that establishing justice is the most important because I think every human should have the right to a fair trial. Even if the country or state itself is not free, we do not support each other, and we do not have domestic tranquility, law and order should be equal for every individual.
What do you think would happen if there were no governments anywhere in the world? If there were no governments anywhere in the world, I believe the people would themselves create government. In my eyes, I believe that government is a natural thing, which will always exist. Even if all source of government was destroyed all over the world, people would eventually rise up and command order over the people that they are near. People would stand up and demand and create order. Government is necessary because government keeps order, settles conflicts, protects the community, and provides services that individuals can't provide independently. Government also guides the community by setting policies, planing for the future, making the budget, and interacting with the community
Should American citizens by birth be required to meet the same requirements for citizenship as naturalized citizens?I do not think that Amercian citizens by irth should be required to meet the same requirements because Amercian citizens are already America, and do not need to be taught how to be American. All American citizens must take a civics or u.s. history course in school. This class teaches a lot of what naturalized citizens must learn to become a citizen in the United States. I think that because U. S. citizens are required to know and learn all this information at one point, that they should not have to go through the same process as naturalized citizens.
Why is immigration such a contriversial topic in American politics? One side: illegal immigration is a threat to American national security and a drain on its public services. Therefore, future immigration to the US should be strictly limited and current undocumented immigrants should be prosecuted under the law; other side: illegal immigration is largely a result of America's flawed naturalization process. Therefore, amnesty should be provided to current undocumented immigrants, and the naturalization process should be made easier for future immigrants.
Name three duties of US citizensAgree to follow a set of rules; accept government authority; are entitled to protection from the government
Why are citizens' responsibilities to their community such an important part of our democratic system? It is so important because without citizens, we wouldn't have taxes to pay for libraries, prisons, and schools. Another reason is because we have a democracy, we are aloud to vote and to have a say in our community and in the government. We are allowed to go on city counsels
