| adviser | A counselor who initiates discussions with clients about ways to deal with environmental problems that contribute to their personal problems. |
| facilitator of indigenous support systems | Counselors who encourage clients to make full use of support systems such as family and friendship networks within the person's cultural group. |
| facilitator of indigenous healing systems | Counselors who are willing to work collaboratively with religious leaders and institutions, energy healers, and respected community leaders on behalf of the client. |
