| Perspective | A particular way of viewing things that depends on one’s experience and personality. Ex. She brings a new perspective to the job. |
| Persuade | To cause (someone) to do or believe something, esp. by explaining why they should. Ex. The government is trying to persuade consumers to save more. |
| Place | An area, a building, or a city, town or village. Ex. The airport was a busy place during the holidays. |
| Plagiarism | To use another person’s idea or a part of their work and pretend that it is your own. Ex. The teacher advised the student, if you copy from the author, it is plagiarism. |
| Plan | A set of decisions about how to do something in the future. Ex. The company introduced a new plan of action to their staff. |
| Plausible | Seeming likely to be true, or able to be believed. Ex. He gave a plausible explanation to the police officer. |
| Plot | The story of a book, film, play. Ex. The film has a very simple plot. |
| Point | An idea, opinion or piece of information that is said or written. Ex. I’d like to discuss the first point of your essay. |
| Point of view | A way of considering something. Ex. From a medical point of view, there was no need for the operation. |
| Portray | To draw forth, reveal, expose; to make a picture of. Ex. I will portray the evidence at the trial. |
| Possible | Able to be done or achieved, or able to exist. Ex. Is it possible to buy tickets in advance? |
| Preclude | To prevent something or make it impossible, or prevent someone from doing something. Ex. His contract will preclude him from discussing his work with anyone outside the company. |
| Predict | To say that an event or action will happen in the future, especially as a result of knowledge or experience. Ex. It’s still not possible to accurately predict the recurrence of earthquakes. |
| Prefix | A letter or group of letters added to the beginning of a work to make a new work. Ex. In the word “unimportant, “un” is a prefix. |
| Prepare | To make or get something or someone ready for something that will happen in the future. Ex. You will need to prepare for the exam? |
