| Hemisphere | half a sphere-Northern,Southern, Western, and Eastern |
| Equator | an imaginary line half way between the north and south poles |
| Globe | a round object or sphere |
| Cardinal Directions | directions of the globe- north,south,east, and west |
| Compass Rose | a small drawing on a map that shows directions |
| Symbol | anything that stands for something else |
| Map Key | an explanation of what the symbols on a map represent |
| Map Scale | the relationship between the distance on a map and the distance on earth |
| Locator | a small map or globe set onto another map that shows where the main map is located |
| Intermediate Directions | northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest |
