The Water Cycle Study Guide
|
A | B |
Primary Energy source | the sun is the primary energy source that gets the water cycle started heating up water and changing it to water vapor. without the sun, the water cycle wouldn't continue |
Evaporation | a liquid (water) is changed to a gas (vapor) when heated by the sun |
Condensation | A gas (vapor) is changed to a liquid (water) when cooled down in the clouds |
Precipitation | A liquid (rain) or solid (snow, sleet, or hail) that falls from the clouds |
Natural Resource | something created by nature that can be used to do jobs or help us survive. Examples: water, wood, air, soil |
Conservation | means not to waste. the water supply should be taken care of since all living things need water to survive. It is essential to life. Examples: turn off the water while washing your hands and brushing your teeth |
Pollution | When the water becomes dirty. Examples: over fertilized lawns and oil from parking lots and boats |
Water cycle | the movement of water from the ground, to the air, and back to the ground by evaporation, condensation, and precipitation |
Major sources of water | rivers, reservoirs, and wells |
