timeline | A line that show the time and the order in which events have happened. Ex. The timeline for applying for the job was extended. |
tone | A quality in the voice which expresses the speaker’s feelings or thoughts, often towards the person being spoken to. Ex. His tone of voice annoyed me. |
topic | A subject which is discussed, written about or studied. Ex. Different topics were discussed during science class, such as acid rain and the ozone layer. |
trace | To find something or someone that was lost, to find the origin of something. Ex. The phone company was able to trace the call. |
trait | A particular characteristic that can produce a particular type of behavior. Ex. His sense of humor is the best trait. |
transition | A change from one form or type to another or the process by which this happens. Ex. The health-care system is in transition at the moment. |
technique | A way of doing an activity which needs skill. Ex. We have developed a new technique for detecting errors on the manufacturing process. |
Table | A flat surface, usually supported by four legs, used for putting things on. Ex. The table was built very sturdy for the children. |
Synthesize | To produce a substance chemically in plants or animals. Ex. There are many vitamins that the body cannot synthesize itself. |
Synonym | A word or phrase which has the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or phrase in the same language. Ex. The words “small” and “little” are synonyms. |
Symbolize | To represent something. Ex. The lighting of the candles was to symbolize peace for all our U. S. soldiers. |
