| Arrow keys | used to move the cursor in the direction of the arrow |

| insert key | used to add new text or spaces between existing text without rekeying the entire document |
| keyboard | an arrangement of keys on a "board" that is attached to a computer |
| left shift key | used to key capital letters controlled by the right hand |
| load | to retrieve a specified computer file or program from a disk or CD |
| menu | a listing of available software options that appears on a display screen |
| monitor | the piece of equipment used to display text, data and graphic images on screen |
| open screen | is where documents are created when using the MicroType Pro program |
| orphan | the first line of a paragraph appearing alone at the bottom of a page |
| output | data or documents that leave an information system, usually presented to the user as a screen display or a printout |

| pitch | type size expressed as the number (10, 12,or 15) of characters per horizontal inch |

| word wrap | a word processing feature that permits information to be keyed on successive lines without having to strike the return key at the end of each line |
