| Simple Mail Transfer Protocol | A protocol for sending e-mail messages between servers. |
| Specifications sheet | Formatting instructions for laying out a document. |
| Tabloid | Paper size larger than legal printout usually has to be done in overlapping pages called tiling. |

| Videodisk | A magnetic disk device that records both video and audio from a television signal. |
| Viruses | Pieces of software designed and written to adversely affect your computer by altering the way it works without your knowledge or permission. |
| Water mark | Faint, lightly shaded image that appears behind other images |
| Waveform Files | A file that stores digitized sound (such as music or spoken words). These files have a .WAV extension. |
| Web browser | Software that displays the graphics and text of a specified site. |
| Web Page | A multimedia file containing HTML codes which can be stored on a web server and viewed by multiple platforms on the WWW. |
| Web server | A special computer that contains web pages that web users can access and view. |
| Web site | A collection of web pages linked to a common home page created for the Internet. |
| Webbed web site | Web pages with no set structure. The World Wide Web itself is based on this structure. |

| White space | An area of empty space on a page used to aid the reader in reading the information |
| Widow | The first line of a paragraph appearing at the bottom of a page or a column by itself |
| World Wide Web | Hypermedia system that lets you browse through related documents on the Internet through the use of hypertext links. |
