| Workbook | A collection of related worksheets contained within a single file. Looks like a notebook that organized the sheets for use in Excel. |
| Worksheet | A single sheet within a workbook file used to enter, calculate, manipulate, and analyze data such as numbers and text. Three are loaded automatically. |
| Sheet Tab | appears at the bottom of an Excel workbook |
| Columns | Represented by letters and are vertical. |
| Row | represented by numbers and is horizontal. |
| Cell | intersection of a row and a column. |
| Active cell | has a thick black border around the cell. |
| Name Box | box to left of the formula bar that shows the cell reference or name of the active cell. |
| Window control buttons | commands that are located in the upper right corner of the Excel window to allow the user to minimize, maximize, or close the window. It also will save the workbook and close it. |
| Title bar | the area of the Excel window that displays the name of the workbook that is active. |
| Status bar | located at the bottom of the worksheet that presents information about the worksheet, the progress of current tasks, and controls viewing of the worksheet. |
| Scroll bars | used to navigate and display different portions of a worksheet in the worksheet window. |
