These activities will help you learn the vocabularly you will need to understand how colleges work

Part-time StudentA student who is not taking a full course load
Full-time StudentA student who is taking at least twelve credits per semester
SemesterThe time between when classes start to when final exams are completed. It's usually about 4 months
Higher EducationTwo year and four year colleges
CreditsYou get a certain number of these per course. You need a certain number to graduate
AccuplacerA test that determines how prepared you are to do college level work.
Developmental CoursesThese help students learn basic skills to prepare for college level work. You do not get credit for these classes
Elective Coursea course a student takes by choice instead of a course required for a degree
MajorSometimes called a concentration, this is the main subject you choose to study in college
Prerequisite ClassA class that is required before a student may enroll in a higher level class
SyllabusAn plan that tells you about topics to be covered and assignments to be completed.
