Nominativethe noun that is the subject of the sentence, the one doing the action.

Dativethe noun to whom something is given, shown, or told; or for whom something is done (indirect object).
Accusativethe noun that is the direct object of the sentence, it DIRECTLY receives the ACTION of the sentence. Can also be the noun that is the object of a preposition.
AblativeThe noun that tells how something is done (ablative of means without preposition) or when something occurs (ablative of time without preposition) or it can be the object of certain prepositions (cum, in, de, ex, ab, sub, sine).
Vocativethe noun being addressed in the sentence.
