| Faraón sabía. Moisés tenía que escapar. Fue a un país llamado Madián. | Pharaoh knew. Moses had to escape. He went to a country called Midian. |

| Moisés protegió y ayudó a las mujeres. | Moses protected and helped the women. |
| “¡Llegaron!” exclamó Reuel, el padre de las chicas. | You're home early!” Reuel, the girls' father exclaimed. |
| Cuando ellas explicaron porqué, dijo, “Traigan al hombre.” | When the girls explained why, he said, Bring the man here.” |
| Moisés vivió con Reuel, que también se llamaba Jetro. Más tarde, Moisés se casó con la hija mayor de Reuel. | Moses lived with Reuel, who was also called Jethro. Later, Moses married Reuel's oldest daughter. |

| Moisés no lo sabía, | Moses did not know it, |
| pero Dios pensaba usarlo | but God planned to use him |
| para ayudar a los hebreos esclavizados. | to help the enslaved Hebrews. |
| Habían pasado cuarenta años | Forty years had passed |
| desde su huida de Egipto. | since his flight from Egypt. |
| Era pastor de las ovejas de Reuel. | He was shepherd of Reuel's sheep. |
| Pero debe de haber extrañado a su propio pueblo en Egipto. | But he must have missed his own people in Egypt. |
| Un día Moisés vio un arbusto cercano en llamas. | One day Moses noticed a nearby bush on fire. |
| Pero el fuego no consumía al arbusto. | But the fire did not consume the bush. |
| Moisés decidió descubrir la razón. | Moses decided to find out the reason. |
| Al acercarse Moisés, Dios le llamó del arbusto. “¡Moisés!” | As Moses approached, God called to him out of the bush. "Moses!” |
| “Aquí estoy,” dijo Moisés. | Here I am, said Moses. |
| “No te acerques demasiado,” dijo Dios. | Don't get too close, God said. |
| “Quítate tus sandalias, | Take off your sandals, |
| porque el lugar donde pisas es tierra santa.” | because the place where you stand is holy ground.” |
| “Te mandaré a Faraón para sacar a mi pueblo de Egipto,” dijo Dios. | I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people out of Egypt," God said. |
| Pero Moisés tenía miedo de ir. | But Moses was afraid to go. |
| Entonces Dios mostró a Moisés Su gran poder. | Then God showed Moses His great power. |
| Transformó la vara de Moisés en una serpiente. | He turned Moses' rod into a serpent. |
| Cuando Moisés levantó la serpiente de la cola se volvió en vara nuevamente. | When Moses picked up the serpent by the tail it became a rod once more. |
| Dios dio otra señal. | God gave another sign. |
| “Pon tu mano en tu pecho,” mandó. | Put your hand on your chest, He commanded. |
| Moisés lo hizo. | Moses did so. |
| Su mano se volvió blanco con lepra. | His hand turned white with leprosy. |
| Cuando lo hizo otra vez, su mano fue sanada. Moisés todavía no quiso. | When he did it again, his hand was healed. Moses still objected. |
| “Yo no hablo bien,” le dijo a Dios. Dios se enojó. | I don't speak well, he told God. God became angry.. |
| “Usaré a Aarón, tu hermano, | I'll use Aaron, your brother, |
| para decir las palabras que tu le dices,” dijo. | to speak the words you tell him, He said. |
| Moisés volvió a Jetro, juntó sus cosas, y salió para Egipto. Dios guió a Aarón, el hermano de Moisés, a encontrarse con Moisés en las montañas. | Moses returned to Jethro, packed his things and left for Egypt. God led Moses' brother Aaron to meet Moses in the mountains. |
