Emma Naea Kaleleonālani,Wife of Alexander liholiho. Committed to public heath. Personally fundraised the money needed for a hospital and donated her own lands for the facilities. Now known as queen emma hospital.
Kūhina Nui,o Kind of like the second in command next to the king. • Kaahumanu, kinaʻu, kekauluohi, Victoria kamamalu, were all kuhina nui. eventually eliminated in k5ʻs constitution of 1864
Kapuāiwa,King K5. Older brother of alex liholiho appointed moʻI y his kuhina nui sister (kamāmalu). Refused to swear alligience to the 1852 constitution and instead created his own. Also allowed for the segrigation of those infected with leprosy.
1864 Constitution,the constitutional convention failed to produce the constitution kapuāiwa wanted he made his own constitution and published it in the newspapers. It did away with universal suffrage. Limited the privy council to a advisory. And eliminated the kuhina nui.
Ruta Ke`elikōlani,Raised by Kaahumanu and baptized by bigham. Did not attend the chiefs school. Was known for refusing to speak and write in English even tho she could. Inherits kekuanaoʻas lands and becomes the riches in Hawaii. When she dies she left all her lands to pauhi which then became the K schools.
Pauahi.Daughter of Pākī and Kōnia. companion of Ruth Keʻelikolani. inherits her lands and starts KS.
