| Ribbon | A section of the Ribbon in Office programs that contains related commands. |
| Horizontal ruler | This fits across the document window and allows you to set, move & remove tabs. |
| Vertical ruler | This fits along the left side of a document, allows you to change the top & bottom of a page setting. |

| I-beam | pointer shaped like a capital I, shows the computer is in text mode |
| Insertion point | A blinking vertical line that shows where text will appear when you begin typing. |
| Quick access toolbar | A small customizable toolbar at the top of the screen with buttons for common commands such as Save and Undo. |
| Hidden characters key | Displayed as a paragraph symbol, when this is toggled on it displays items that do not print on the page such as spaces, tabs, & returns. |
| Hardware | The physical components, devices or parts of the computer. |
| RAM | Memory that temporarily stores programs and data when the computer is turned on but does not retain the contents when the computer is turned off. |
| ROM | Permanent memory that stores the instructions that tell the computer how to begin to load its operating system and programs. |
