| Mini Toolbar | Toolbar that appears floating above selected text or other content that provides the user quick access to formatting settings. |
| Mouse pointer | Representation of the mouse location on the screen. Also known as the cursor. |
| Outline view | Document view that gives an overview of the headings and levels of content in a document. |
| Print Layout view | Document view that allows the user to see all the elements of a document including the headers and footers; the default view in Word 2007. |
| Print Preview | Document view that shows the user exactly how the document will appear when it is printed. |
| Quick Access toolbar | Area on the title bar in ribbon applications located just to the right of the Office Button that provides options like save and undo. |
| Ribbon | Area below the title bar and menu tabs where the application functions are located. This presentation of options replaces the standard menu in Office 2007 applications like Word and Excel. |
| Scroll bars | Bars at the right and bottom edges of a document that allow the user to move around in a document. |
| Selection point | Box that floats between the ends of a scroll bar that indicates the part of the document the user is viewing; can be dragged to move the view. |
| Slide Sorter view | Document view in PowerPoint that shows all the slides in a presentation and allow them to be rearranged. |
| Splash Screen | Is an image that appears while a game or program is loading. |
| Status bar | Area at the bottom of an application window that shows things like the current page number, total page count and other document information; in a Web browser, it shows the URL associated with a hyperlink. |
| Table of Contents | A list of divisions (chapters or articles) and the pages on which they start. |
| Taskbar | Area at the bottom of the desktop that contains the Start button, system tray, and icons for all open programs. |
| Title bar | Area at the top center of an open program window that shows the program and file name. |
| Toolbars | A strip of icons used to perform certain functions. |
| Web Layout view | Document view that shows how a document will appear when published as a Web page. |
| Zoom | Option that enables the user to magnify a document. |
