realistic fiction | Stories that use real characters and settings just like in real life. They are stories that could happen to you, a friend, or family member. They are placed in modern times. |
traditional literature | stories that were passed down through oral storytelling from generation to generation. Traditional literature consists of songs, stories, poems and riddles from anonymous authors |
historical fiction | Stories that are set in the past and are not true. Sometimes they use real events and/or real people, but they add fictional elements. |
biography | the story of a person's life events, written by another individual |
autobiography | the story of a person's life events written by the person |
informational | books which give factual information |
humorous | books which are written to entertain through the use of comedy |
adventure | novels that have an exciting undertaking involving risk and/or physical danger, as its main storyline. |
graphic novel | a fictional story which is presented in a comic strip format |
