Cells and Systems of the Body

AB
Nervous SystemThis system is the control center for your body. It sends electrical signals through your body which control movement and behavior.
Muscular SystemThis system helps you move.
Circulatory SystemThis system transports nutrients, gases, (like carbon dioxide and oxygen), and waste through the body with a pump and through a series of tubes.
Respiratory SystemThis system helps the body exhale carbon dioxide and inhale oxygen.
Digestive SystemThis system breaks down food and absorbs nutrients.
Excretory SystemThis system filters waste and toxins from the body.
Skeletal SystemThis system supports and protects your body and your organs.
CellsThese are the basic unit of life.
Plants and AnimalsHave different kinds of cells although some of their parts are similar.
SkinThis is the largest organ in your body.
MouthDigestion starts here.
StomachThe place where food is stored until it can be broken down further for travel into the small intestine.
Circulatory SystemThis system transports oxygen, nutrients, and wastes through the body and is made up of the heart, blood vessels, and the blood.
BloodThis is the liquid that the heart pumps through the body. Sometimes it appears red and sometimes blue depending on how much oxygen is in it.
The Blood MobileThis was a catchy tune we used to help us learn about what our circulatory system does in our bodies.
MicroscopicThings that are so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye.
CellsThese are so small that you cannot see them without the aide of a microscope.
Spinal CordThe part of the body that runs from your brain to your tail bone. It is responsible for transfering information to different parts of your body.
SkullThis is the part of your skeletal system that protects your brain.
Skeletal MusclesThese are muscles that we can move voluntarily.
Involuntary MovementsActs like breathing, the heart beating, and digesting food.
Voluntary MovementsActs like blinking, sitting, bending, or swallowing.
Respiraatory SystemThe lungs are the main organ in this system.
Circulatory SystemThe heart is the main organ in this system.
Tiny HairsThese are in the nose and are for filtering the air we breath.
Nervous SystemThe brain is the main organ in this system.
