Vasco Nunez BalboaThe First European to discover the Pacific Ocean in 1513. This Spanish explorer was looking for wealth and fame.
Jacques CartierDiscovered the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the St. Lawrence River in Canada in 1534. This French Explorer was searching for gold.
Henry HudsonExplored the Hudson River near present-day New York state and the Hudson Bay in 1609 and 1610. He claimed the area for Holland. He was trying to find a northern path to Europe and Asia.
