How was coal formed?During prehistoric times (300,000,000 years ago), forest plants and trees died and fell to the bottom of swamps. They were covered up by layers of sediment. With time and pressure, they changed from plants to peat and then to coal.
What is the major difference in coal and oil formation?Coal is made from plants and oil is made from animals and plants.
Where does the term "Fossil Fuel" come from?Something we burn (fuel) that was formed formt eh decay of ancient forms of plants and/or animals (fossils).
