IllnessA disease, sickness, or indisposition
InjuryPhysical damage to the body or a body part
Arrival Health CheckA quick check for observable signs of illness and/or injury that should be completed for each child upon arrival at the early childhood program.
FeverA rise in the body’s temperature above that which is normal
Axillary temperatureTemperature taken under the arm
Oral temperatureTemperature taken under the tongue
Communicable DiseaseA disease capable of being directly (through contact with bodily secretions) or indirectly (through contact with inanimate objects) transmitted from person to person; contagious.
OutbreakA sudden occurrence, usually of something unpleasant or dangerous such as illness
SwellingAn increase in size of part of the body, typically as a result of injury, infection, or other medical condition.
BruisingBruises or the dark patches left on the surface of bruised skin.
