DisabilityThe United States Department of Education defines a disability as a condition, impairment, or developmental delay that impacts an individual’s cognitive, language, speech, visual, physical, or emotional development or abilities

Partially sightedIndicates some type of visual problem that creates a need for special education
Low visionRefers to a severe visual impairment that cannot be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses
Legally blindIndicates that a person has less than 20/200 vision in the better eye or a very limited field of vision (20 degrees at its widest point)
Totally blindRequires that children learn via Braille or other non-visual media
