Serifs | Short cross strokes that project out at the end of the main letter strokes in some typefaces |

Uppercase | Capital letters of the alphabet |
x-height | The distance between the baseline and mean line of type |
Baseline | the imaginary line where a line of text rests |
Modern Typeface | Typeface with high contrasted thick and thin lines. Not good for lots of type |
Serif Typeface | Type with semi-structural etails on the ends of letters and symbols and thick and thin areas |
San Serif Typeface | Type with the same thickness all the way around |
Script Typeface | Type that looks like cursive |
Decorative typeface | Type that is very unique used for titles or a few words |
en dash | a (-) that is used in place of "to" Ex: A-Z |
em dash | A line that is used to show a pause in a sentence |
