dividendIn division, the number that is being divided.
divisorIn division, the number that divides into another.
quotientThe result of dividing one number by another number.
remainderThe amount left over when one number is divided by another number.
parenthesesGrouping symbols used to tell which part of an expression should be calculated first.
fractionA fraction is a way to show part of a whole. A number written with the bottom part (the denominator) telling you how many parts the whole is divided into, and the top part (the numerator) telling how many you have.
common denominatorAny number except for zero that is a multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions.
denominatorThe number below the line in a fraction.
equivalent fractionsFractions that have different denominators but name the same amount.
simplest formA fraction less than 1 is in simplest form if there is no other number than 1 that can be evenly divided into the numerator and denominator.
mixed numberA number that is written using a whole number and a fraction.
improper fractionA fraction whose numerator is greater than or equal to its denominator.
numeratorThe number above the line in a fraction.
