Executive Branch | The branch of government that carries out law. |
Judicial Branch | The branch of our government that decides if laws are carried out fairly |
Legislative Branch | The branch of our government also known as Congress that makes laws we obey in our country. |
delegate | a person appointed or elected to represent others (e.g. Senators and Congressmen). |
Senate | The branch of the U.S. Congress that makes laws. Each state elects 2 people to represent them in congress. |
House of Representatives | The branch of the US Congress where Representatives are elected by the people of a state, with the number of representatives for each state determined by the state's population. Small states get to elect fewer people than larger states. |
Checks and Balances | This is a system to prevent any branch of government from becoming too powerful. The powers are divided among the different branches and each branch has methods for checking and balancing the power of the other branches. |
