| Analyze | Breaking something larger apart into pieces usually dealing with information. We break things apart into pieces so that we can understand each part and see how it fits together and becomes a whole. |
| Assess | to judge or test something. When you assess something you judge what it is worth if it is good/bad,useful, cheap. The word can be used to assess both objects and ideas. |
| Cite | when we use information/evidence from sources as evidence to support our thinking or our opinion. |
| Claim | a person’s claim is what he/she believes to be true. |
| Compare | to show how two or more things are the same. Example: We compare people, food, countries, candy…..everything. |
| Contrast | to show how two or more things are different Example: again we contrast people and places and foods. |
| Construct | to create using the pieces that you have. Example: We can read and construct meaning from the many facts that we have on the page. |
