Sheet TabSheet name located at the bottom of a workbook
Cell ReferenceCoordinates of the intersection of a column and row
Active CellThe cell into which you can enter data
Formula Barappears below the formatting toolbar; as you type in a cell, Excel displays the entry on this line
GridlinesThe horizontal and vertical lines on the worksheet itself that make it easier to see each cell on a worksheet.
Column Headingthe column letter above the grid that identifies each column
Row Headingthe row number on the left side of the grid that identifies each row.
Relative ReferenceWhen you copy a cell reference with a formula to another cell, Excel automatically adjusts the formula in the cell for the new position on the worksheet.
Fill Handlethe small black square that is located in the lower-right corner of the heavy border around the active cell.
Merging CellsCreating a single cell by combining two or more selected cells.
Embedded Charta chart drawn on the same worksheet as the data.
Point ModeAllows you to select cells for use in a formula by using the mouse.
FunctionA prewritten formula that takes a value or values, performs an operation, and returns a result to the cell.
Fixed Dollar SignIn accounting style; is displayed at the far left of a cell, often with spaces between it and the first digit.
Floating Dollar SignIn Currency style; this appears immediately to the left of the first digit with no spaces.
