| font color | a color palette that can be applied to a set of characters with a particular design and size |
| font effects | effects applied to text that changes the appearance such as emboss or shadow |
| font size | the size applied to a set of characters measured in points |
| font style | a style applied to a set of characters; usually defined as bold, italics, or underline; may include pre-defined styles |
| full screen reading view | a view that shows the page in a way that is easiest to read on the screen |
| go to | a MS command that directs the program to display a specific page or section in a document |
| group | combine multiple objects together to form one object |
| margin | the boundaries of a document appearing at teh left, right, top, and bottom edges of a document |
| object order | a setting that changes teh position of two or more objects when they are layers over top of each other |
| outline view | a view that expands and collapses sections of the document using levels or headings that have been applied to text |
| paste | to insert a selection on/from the clipboard into a document |
| print layout | the default view in MS Word; in this view you can add, edit, and format text as well as add graphics and tables; this view shows teh document as it will appear when printed |
| quick access toolbar | a customizable toolbar found beside the File tab that holds commands that are used often such as Save, Undo, and Redo |
| ribbon | a band that contains a set of tabs including Home, Insert, Page Layout, References, Mailings, Review, and View |
| rotate handle | a green handle used to turn an object up to 360 degrees |
| ruler | a bar at the top of the window that looks like a ruler; is used to quickly change margins and tabs on a given line of a document or table |
| scroll bar | a bar used to change the part of the document shown in the window |
| sizing handles | marks on a selected object that act as reference points when changing the size of an object |
| status bar | a strip along the bottom of the window used to show document information such as page number, number of words, and the zoom slider |
| tab | part of the ribbon that holds commands that do a similar job |
| task pane | a box on the right edge of the window that displays program and tool options; opens automatically when you do certain tasks, such as starting a new document, asking for help, or inserting clip art |
| text effect | a set of effects applied to letters such as glow, shadow, or reflection |
| text wrap | a setting that changes how words go around a graphic |
| title bar | a bar at the top of the window that shows the name of the document, program name, and the control buttons |
| view buttons | tools at the bottom left corner of the window used to change the view of the document |
| web layout | a view that displays the document as it would look as a web page |
| window controls | a set of 3 controls at the top right corner of a program window used to minimize, maximize/restore, or close the program window |
| word processing | using a computer to create, edit, and print documents |
| wordart | pre-set designs for text that make the letters look like "art" |
| zoom slider | a slider in the bottom right corner of teh window used to change the magnification of the document |
