Document Window | Where you view a portion of a document. |
Status Bar | Presents information about the doucment and is located at the bottom of the document window. |
Insertion Point | A blinking vertical bar that indicates where text, graphics, and other items will be inserted. |
Scroll Bar | Enables you to move up, down, and across your window simply by dragging the icon. |
Active Tab | The tab currently displayed |
Cotextual Tabs | A tab that is displayed on the ribbon only when you perform certain tasks. |
Gallery | A set of choices arranged in a grid or list. |
Normal Style | The default style in Word. |
Enhance Screen Tip | An on-screen note that you can hover your mouse over to see the name of the command, and sometimes a description of the command. |
Dialog Box Launcher | The lower-right corner of some groups on the ribobn has a small arrow that when clicked, displays a task pane with additional options for the group. |
Print Layout View | The preset (default) view that shows the document on a mock sheet of paper in the document window. |
Mini Toolbar | Automatically appears, that contains comands related to changing the appearance of text in a document. |
Zoom Slider | Changes the zoom so that you can see the entire doucment on the screen at once. |
Quick Access Toolbar | Contains commands such as Save, Undo, and Redo. Is located above the ribbon. |
Key Tip | Selects a command using the keyboard by pressing its displayed code letter. |
Formatting Marks | Not visible on printed documents, but show the user where new paragraphs were created, as well as spacing and tabs within the document window. |
Word Wrap | Allows you to type words in a paragraph continually, without pressing the ENTER key at the end of each line. |
Resizing (graphics) | includes both enlarging and reducing the size of a graphic. |
Theme | A set of unified formats for fonts, colors, and graphics. |
Quick Style | A pre-defined style within a gallery, such as Heading 1 and Heading 2. |
Style Set | Consists of a group of frequently used styles formatted so they look pleasing when used together. |
Font Set | Defines formats for 2 fonts: 1 for headings and another for body - for each theme. |
Color Scheme | In a theme, it identifies 12 complementary colors for text, background, accents, and links in a document. |
Increase/Decrease Indent | Allows you to enlarge/reduce the amount of indentation within a bulleted list. |
Grow/Shrink Font | Changes the font size of the selected text in the doucment window. Large A makes the font size larger; smaller A makes the font size smaller. |
