RAP review

Use the activity to help you review RAP. Remember, memorizing each of these is good, but you will need to then apply these to a short answer question!

AB
Restate the questionIn your first sentence that you write, you must use the same words that the question contained.
Answer all parts of the questionWhen you look at the question, make sure you have paid special attention to the number of examples you need, if you need to quote an answer, if you need to explain or analyze your answer.
Quote your sourceGive the author's exact words. Put " " marks around those words.
Cite your sourceGive the author's last name and page number, paragraph number, chapter, etc.
Explain your examplesIt is not enough to quote your answer. After you give your quote or evidence, you must explain how that evidence relates to the question. This is where you need to use your own head and THINK!
Don't MUG(s) Me!Use correct mechanics, usage, grammar, and spelling. In other words, don't get lazy. Simple errors in capitalization, spelling, punctuation, and abbreviations are NOT acceptable.
Do the RAP!This is the correct way to answer short answer/extended response questions.
What is the similarity between wrapping a present and doing the RAP?When you wrap a present you put everything together in a box (and not forget to put the good stuff - the present) in it. When you do the RAP, you need to put the good "stuff" in your answer. In both, you need to RAP it up, making it look nice a ribbon which is the correct MUGS.
