| A | B |
| Slope | How steep a straight line is. |
| Intercept | to stop or interrupt the course, progress, of a line |
| x-intercept | A point at which a graph intersects the x-axis. |
| y-intercept | A point at which a graph intersects the y-axis. |
| slope-intercept form | y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. |
| standard form | Ax + By = C, where A > 0 and, if possible, A, B, and C are relatively prime integers. |
| point-slope form | y – y1 = m(x – x1), where m is the slope and (x1, y1) is a point on the line. |
| continuous | A function with a connected graph and Example: People's heights could be any value (within the range of human heights), not just certain fixed heights. |
| discrete | Data that can only take certain values. For example: the number of students in a class (you can't have half a student). |
| causation | the relationship between cause and effect; causality |
| trend line | a line indicating the general course or tendency of something, e.g., a geographical feature or a set of points on a graph. |
| line of best fit | a line on a graph which shows the direction of a group of points. This can be used for predictions |
| constant | refers to a fixed and well defined number that will take on the "b" variable in an equation. |
| coefficient | a numerical or constant quantity placed before and multiplying the variable in an algebraic expression |
| variable | A symbol for a number we don't know yet. |
| parallel | side by side and having the same slope or distance continuously between them. |
| perpendicular | at an angle of 90° to a given line, plane, or surface that will have the opposite receptacle slope. |
| transformation | Moving a shape so that it is in a different position, but still has the same size, area, angles and line lengths. |
| rate of change | The speed at which a variable changes over a specific period of time. |
| table of values | Numbers or quantities arranged in rows and columns - sorted by input and output |
| coordinate | each of a group of numbers used to indicate the position of a point, line, or plane. - containing a relationship |
| axis | a fixed reference line for the measurement of coordinates |
| quadrants | each of four parts of a plane |
