| Calcaneus | Heel bone |
| Gastrocnemius and soleus | Large calf muscles |
| Jones fracture | Fracture of fifth metatarsal head |
| lateral malleolus | distal end of the fibula |
| medial malleolus | distal end of the tibia |
| metatarsals | long bones in midfoot |
| tarsals | several small bones at top of foot between ankle and metatarsals |
| phalanges | bones in the toes |
| Great toe | big toe (also called hallux) |
| plantar surface | bottom of foot (sole) |
| talus | blockish-shaped bone above calcaneus in the ankle |
| inversion | turning foot inward |
| eversion | turning foot outward |
| dorsiflexion | pulling up of the foot |
| plantarflexion | pointing foot downward |
| dorsal surface | top of the foot |
| hallux | great toe |
