| Division of the assembly | A voting method in which the members of the assembly take a rising vote (stand up) or go to different parts of the chamber, literally dividing into groups indicating a vote in favour of or in opposition to a motion on the floor. |
| Refer to a committe | To give a motion more detailed attention or permit it to be handled in privacy by a committe. |
| Previous question | A motion to end debate, and the moving of amendments, on any debatable or amendable motion and bring that motion to an immediate vote. |
