| Interactions | increase risk of diarrhea with magnesium-containing antacids |
| Adult Oral Dose | : anti-ulcer- 200 mcg 4x daily with or after meals and at bedtime or 400 mcg twice daily, with the last dose at bedtime. If intolerance occurs, dose may be decreased to 100mcg 4x daily |
| Nsg Implications | assess for epigastric or abd pain and frank or occult blood in stool, emesis, or gastric aspirate |
| Pt Teaching | take meds with meals and at bedtime to reduce severity of diarrhea, take meds as directed for the full course of therapy, even if better. Take missed doses as soon as possible unless next dose is due within 2 hrs. do not double dose. Do not share with others even if they have similar symptoms. |
