ACT English Strategies
Strategies for taking the English ACT

Skim | "Skim" the passage. Do not spend a lot of time reading it in depth |
Use your "Ear" | The answer will "sound" correct or incorrect |
Stay Consistent | Make sure the paragraph, sentence, or passage stays the same through out. (Example is first person, 2nd person etc./ Past tense, present tense etc./ stays consistent with punctuation like ; or ,) |
Clarity Counts | Make sure your answer is clear and concise. It needs to eliminate redundancy. Often times try looking at the shortest answer first. |
Predict Answers | Answer the question in your own words, prior to reading the answer choices |
Eliminate Wrong Answers | Use the process of elimination to figure out the correct answer. Remeber the question will ask you too look at all answer choices. (Use Words Like Everything is correct EXCEPT or Which is the Best choice) |
