Sewing Machine Parts

Students must pass a sewing machine parts assessment before they begin sewing.

Needle Stop position KeyUsed when pivoting. Press down arrow to place needle in down position/ lift presser foot and turn fabric 90 degrees to pivot. Lower presser foot and continue sewing.
Thread CutterRazor to cut thread on side of the machine
Throat plateused as a guide for sewing straight
Take up leverPulls the thread from the spool and regulates stitches
Thread GuidesHolds thread in place. Guides user the direction and placement of the thread
BobbinHolds lower thread
Bobbin WinderPuts thread on the bobbin
