| polling place | a place where votes are cast in an election |
| presidential election day | the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November |
| primary | an election between members of the same party who seek to be selected as their party's candidate |
| propaganda | a form of communication that tries to spread and promote a certain set of beliefs |
| registration | signing up to vote by filling in your name and other information about yourself on a special form |
| sound bite | a fragment of television videotape, usually nine or ten seconds in length |
| third party | a party organized as a n alternative to the the two major parties |
| vote | a choice expressed by written ballot, voice, or a show of hands |
