baya partially enclosed area of water with a wide opening to the sea
buttea hill with a small, flat top and sloping sides; common in dry regions
canyona narrow, deep gash in the earth with steep sides; gorge
capea point of land extending into a body of water
deltaa deposit of sediment at a river's mouth, usually in the shape of a triangle
escarpmenta steep slope or long cliff between two level areas at different altitudes
estuarya long, wide river mouth that rises and falls with tides
gulfa large, partially enclosed area of water that often has a narrow opening to the sea
hilla small but visible rise in land elevation with slopes on all sides
islanda piece of land completely surrounded by water
isthmusa narrow portion of land connecting two larger land areas
lagoona shallow body of water separating land from nearby sandbars or coral reefs
lakea totally enclosed body of water with no outlets other than rivers
mesaa hill with a large, flat top and steep sides
mountaina landform that stands high above the surrounding landscapes
mouth (of a river)the opening of a river where it empties into another body of water
peaka high point on a mountain
peninsulaan area of land surrounded by water on three sides
plaina wide, level area of land
plateaua large area of land that rises above surrounding areas; tableland
reefa ridge below the surface of an ocean that rises up from the ocean floor near the shore
sounda long, wide stretch of water that is a passageway between larger bodies of water or that leads inland from the ocean
source (of a river)the spring, lake or other point from which a river originates
straita narrow waterway joining two larger bodies of water
valleya long, low area of land between higher land
