Stimulates motility of the upper GI tract and accelerates gastric emptying.

| Contraindications | Hypersensitivity, possible GI obstruction or hemorrhage, history of seizure disorders, Parkinson's disease. |

| Interactions | additive CNS depression with other CNS depressants, including alcohol, antidepressants, antihistamines, opiod analgesics, sedative/hypnotics. |
| Dosage | PO:IV:(adults and children) 1-2mg/kg 30 min. before chemotherapy |
| Nursing Implications | assess for nausea, vomitting, abd. distention, bowel sounds before and after administration. assess for extrapyramidal side effects (speaking or swallowing, loss of balance control) |
