Internet safety vocabulary - primarily involving cyber-bullying This vocabulary refers to versions of the terminology specific to electronic communications, including interactive and digital technologies, mobile phones, and especially the Internet -- including email and social networking services such as Twitter, Facebook, and others.

| Online Predator | an adult Internet user who exploits minors, usually for abusive purposes |
| Cyber-bullying | when one minor torments, threatens, harasses, humiliates, or embarrasses another minor using electronic communication means |
| Outing | sharing someone else's secrets or embarrassing information or images using electronic communication |
| Trickery | talking someone into revealing secrets or embarrassing information, then sharing it using electronic communication |
| Impersonation | pretending to be someone else and sending or posting material to get that person in trouble or danger or to damage that person's reputation or friendships |
| Flaming | fights using electronic messages with angry and vulgar content |
| Harassment | repeatedly sending nasty, mean, and insulting messages |
| Denigration | sending or posting gossip or rumors about a person in order to damage his or her reputation or friendships |
| Exclusion | intentionally and cruelly preventing someone else from joining a group |
| Cyberstalking | repeatedly sending harmful messages that include threats of harm, are highly intimidating or extremely offensive, or involve extortion |
