| Designer Drug | A synthetic (chemically made) version of an illegal drug that was slightly altered to avoid having it classified as illegal |
| Gateway Drug | A drug which when used may lead to the use of more addictive substances |
| Hallucinogen | A substance, especially a drug such as LSD, that causes hallucinations or a perception of something that is not really there |
| Methamphetamine | A highly addictive stimulant that is man-made and illegal |
| Narcotic | A drug affecting the brain and spinal cord which can cause dizziness, euphoria, loss of memory, lack of coordination and unconsciousness |
| Toxin | A substance that accumulates in teh body and causses it harm |
| THC | The main chemical in cannabis that causes its drug reaction |
| Sedative | A medicine or drug that calms or makes one sleep |
| Rush | The first surge in sensation felt when smoking or injecting a drug, varying in length depending on the drug |
| Amphetamine | Any group of powerful stimulant drugs, often called "speed" that act on the brain and spinal cord, increasing heart rate and blood pressure while reducing fatigue |
| Inhalant | Any substance, in the form of a gas or vapor, that can be inhaled, which is sometimes abused for its stimulating effect |

| Antidepressant | Any drug intended to prevent or handle depression |
