Date Line | The section of a business letter which consists of the month, day, and year positioned two to six lines below the letterhead |
Inside Address | The section of a business letter which contains the addressee's courtesy title plus full name, job title, business affiliation, and full geographical address and is placed three to eight lines below the date line |
Salutation | The section of a business letter that serves as an expression of greeting to the recipient of a letter such as "Dear Mr. Smith:" and begins two lines below the last line of the inside address |
Message | The section of a business letter that serves as the body or subject of the letter and begins two lines below the salutation |
Complimentary Close | The section of a business letter that expresses a sender's regards such as Sincerely yours and is located two lines below the last line of the message of the letter |
Signature Block | The section of a business letter that contains the typed name and title of the sender and is located at least four blank lines below the complimentary close |
Tab Stop | A location on the horizontal ruler that tells Word where to position the insertion point and stop when you press the TAB Key on the keyboard |
Tab Character (or marker) | A formatting mark or character that appears in the empty space tetween the tab stops when you press the TAB key |

Nonbreaking Space | A special space character that prevents two words from splitting if the first word falls at the end of a line such as proper nouns, dates, units of time, abbreviations, etc. |
Nonbreaking Hyphen | A special type of hyphen that prevents two words separated by a hyphen from splitting at the end of a line |
Table | A collection of rows and columns used to display data or information |
Cell | The intersection of a row and column in a table |
Dimension | The total number of rows and columns specified to create a table |
