| Roe v. Wade 1973 | The Court held that a woman's right to an abortion fell within the right to privacy protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. |
| War Powers Act | Law passed in 1973 which allows Congress to limit the President's use of military forces. The President must tell Congress within 48 hours if he sends armed forces anywhere, and Congress must give approval for them to stay there for more than 90 days. |

| Nixon's Watergate Scandal | A major political scandal during the 1970s, following a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. President Nixon's administration's attempted a cover-up of its involvement. This led to U.S. v. Nixon Supreme Court case (US v Nixon) and resignation of Nixon as President. |

A total of 2,977 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks. These attacks led to Operation Iraqi Freedom and War on Terror. |
