| A | B |
| Circuit Board | A thin board that contains electrical circuits and are found in electrical devices |
| Expansion Slot | a physical electronic interface found in a computer that helps enable extra facilities or expansions to be connected to it |
| CPU | the Central Processing Unit controls mainly everything on the computer and is located on the motherboard |
| Drive Bay | used to store drives, but mostly floppy disk drives, and hard disks. Sometimes they are external but most of the time they are inside a case. |
| Floppy Disk Drive | A device that reads data and stores information, but does not connect directly to the motherboard. The drive itself is permanent, but the disk that goes inside is removable. |
| Video Graphics Card | An add on to the computer that is connected to the expansion slots on the motherboard. It helps display the images on the computer. |
| Audio Card | A device that is inside the computer and produces sound. It is connected to the expansion slot. |
| Server | computer that provides data to other computers. may serve data to systems on a local or wide area network over the internet |
| Network Interface Card | A circuit board that helps the computer to internet. It is located on the side of the computer so you can plug in the cable to connect. |
| Hard Drive | The computer's main storage that permanently stores data. It connects to the motherboard. It can either be external or internal. |
| Power Supply | A device that supplies electric power to an electrical load. A power supply converts one form of electrical energy to another. |
| Monitor | A device for observing/recording the operation of the computer and/or system. |
| Fan | Cools down other computer parts to prevent overheating. |
| IDE Cable | short for Integrated Drive Electronics, is a hard drive that connects to the motherboard directly. It seals most of the memory from the other hard ware items, such as the hard disks, floppy drives, and any expansion cards. It is more commonly known as a Parallel ATA (Parallel Advance Technology Attachment). |
| CD Rom | an essential component that allows us to insert discs and view them on the computer. You place it in the chassis. |
| RAM | A form of computer data storage. We can see any of the data in any order that we choose. It plugs directly into the motherboard. |
| Operating System | OS (Like the Apple OS and iOS) it is a group of software that controls computer hardware resources. It also gives us common services for computer programs. Mobile Devices and computers MUST have an operating system. It is essential. |
