bookmarkA location or selection of text that you name and identify for future reference.
captionA line of text that describes an object.
citationExcerpt from the source of information.
endnoteA citation in a document placed at the end of the document in which the citation is located. An endnote is formatted as double spaced with no hanging indent according to the MLA guidelines.
footerContent that appears on the bottom of the page.
footnoteA citation in a document placed at the bottom of the page in the document on which the citation is located. A footnote is formatted as single spaced with hanging indent and double spaced between each footnote according to the MLA guidelines.
headerContent that appears on the top of the page.
hyperlinkA block of text or a graphic that when mouse-clicked takes the user to a new location to an internal or external page.
MLA styleA standardization of guidelines used by colleges and universities for research papers.
plagiarismIllegal use of someone’s work.
protocol (http)How data is transferred through the servers.
sourceWhere you acquire the information. A source can come from a book, Web, interview, etc.
tab leaderThe symbols that appear in a table of contents between a topic and the corresponding page number.
table of authoritiesA specialized type of bibliography used in legal documents. It lists all of the legal citations in a document and the page numbers on which they are located.
table of contentsAn ordered list of the topics in a document, along with the page numbers on which they are found. Usually located at the beginning of a long document.
works citedA list of sources referred to in the document and is placed at the end of the document. Also referred to as a works cited page.
