Chapter 2 Theorems & Postulates

These are the theorems and postulates that will help you to do the proofs in Chapter 2. Don't forget to review all definitions done up til this point as well.

AB
Angle addition postulateIf a point lies in the interior of an angle then the little angle plus the little angle equals the whole angle.
Segment addition postulateIf A is between B and C then BA + AC = BC
Midpoint TheoremIf M is the midpoint of segment AB then 2AM=AB & AM=1/2AB & 2MB=AB & MB=1/2AB
Supplement TheoremIf two angles form a linear pair then they are supplementary
Linear pair theoremIf two angles form a linear pair then the sum of the measures of the angles is 180
All right angles are ______congruent
Vertical angles are ______congruent
Angles supplementary to the same angle (or congruent angles)are congruent to each other
Angle complementary to the same angle (or congruent angles)are congruent to each other
Perpendicular line intersect to formfour right angles
Angle bisector theoremIf ray BX is the bisector of angle ABC then 2m(angle ABX)=m(angle ABC) & m(angleABX) = 1/2m(angleABC) & 2m(angleXBC)=m(angleABC) & m(angleXBC) = 1/2m(angleAB)
