the following are terms that are commonly associated throughout the magazine on a weekly basis.

PhotojournalismJournalism in which news stories are presented mainly through photographs
HeadlineThe title of a story
story anglethe story's peg or point of view. A subject alone (say vitamin Z) does not a sotry make. it has to have a timely peg(Canadian scientist creates miraculous new vitamin) or a point of view (the remarkable blink-from-birth scientist who created vitamin Z).
cutline/captionthe information that goes with a photograph or illustration
editorialA statement of opinion by the editor.
Bylinethe name of the other
cover linesthe words or phrases used on the cover to describe the main offerings of that issue.
foliothe line of type, usually on the bottom of each page, that contains the page number, issue date and the name of the publication
typefaceWhen copy is nearly final (edited, fact checked, cut to length, etc) it is typeset in the style of type or font used by the publication
cover storyThe special article or story in a magazine that deals with a subject depicted on the cover
sidebarA separate box or page of copy (either anecdotal or informative) accompanying the article.
correspondentA person hired by a magazine or newspaper to furnish news, articles of a certain type or from a distant place
lead or ledethe first sentence or paragraph of a story. The lede always contains the most interesting or significant aspect of a story.
layoutthe arrangement of the editorial, art , headlines, subheads and captions on a page.
Subheadthe subtitle or copy that accompanies a headline containing more information about the story.
mastheada list of the staff of a magazine
copyAny editorial material, whether it's an article, a cutline or a blurb.
feature articleA special story or article prominently displayed!
