| cover lines | the words or phrases used on the cover to describe the main offerings of that issue. |
| folio | the line of type, usually on the bottom of each page, that contains the page number, issue date and the name of the publication |
| typeface | When copy is nearly final (edited, fact checked, cut to length, etc) it is typeset in the style of type or font used by the publication |
| cover story | The special article or story in a magazine that deals with a subject depicted on the cover |
| sidebar | A separate box or page of copy (either anecdotal or informative) accompanying the article. |
| correspondent | A person hired by a magazine or newspaper to furnish news, articles of a certain type or from a distant place |
| lead or lede | the first sentence or paragraph of a story. The lede always contains the most interesting or significant aspect of a story. |
| layout | the arrangement of the editorial, art , headlines, subheads and captions on a page. |
| Subhead | the subtitle or copy that accompanies a headline containing more information about the story. |
| masthead | a list of the staff of a magazine |
| copy | Any editorial material, whether it's an article, a cutline or a blurb. |
